2007 PSDA Distinguished Service Award
Presented January 13, 2007
Square Dancing provides us with new
friends, great exercise, mental and physical
challenges, and FUN -- but it is only
possible through the dedication and
commitment of club members and callers.
Each year the PSDA selects a local
recipient to honor with the PSDA
Distinguished Service Award; and, as
always, there have been a number of
outstanding nominations for this award.

This year, the selection committee has
chosen a couple, one or both of whom has:
Square danced over 20 years
Served as an officer for square dance clubs, the Piedmont Square Dance
Association, and the SC Callers' Association
Attended 9 National Square Dance Conventions, voluteering their services in
at least 6 of them
Called regularly for three upstate clubs and cued line dancing
Taught square dance lessons even when the number of students could not
cover the cost
Made custom square dance apparel
Hosted square dance festivals; and
May be seen at dances dressed as anything from a Pizza Chef to a pajama
This year's award goes to a couple that has devoted a great deal of personal effort to
help make square dancing possible in South Carolina.
