Spartan Spinners—April 10, 2024--NOW--Notes on Wednesday

Greetings Spartan Spinners and Students.

Four students were in attendance at our classes last Thursday, April 4.  Classes continue this week, Thursday, April 11 at 7 pm and we hope that all our students will be attendance as you continue to build on what you have learned with new calls you will be introduced to.  And, all club members are encouraged to come and help these students learn the fun art of square dancing.

Our 53rd Anniversary Dance last Saturday was a great hit.  We had 23 Spartan Spinners and 16 visitors in the squares.  We enjoyed a night of dancing, socializing, delicious food and that anniversary cake.  Thank you to all who came early to help set up for this special dance and then stayed to get everything back in place.  Our next dance will be Saturday, April 20, our Crazy Hat Dance.  Dancing will start at 7:30 pm with Tom Pustinger calling at Holy Communion Lutheran Church.  Hal and Jeannine Jordan are in charge of setup.

The 47th Annual SC Round and Square Dancing Convention in Rock Hill, SC, April 26 & 27 is right around the corner.  The theme is Hawaiian Style, with a special Friday night Luau Dance.  This should be a fun and interesting Hawaiian weekend.  If you plan to attend, you will need to pay at the door $35 for the weekend if you didn't mail in for your ribbons.  Please come and meet us in the square in Rock Hill!

Future events -- please put on your calendar now as you won't want to miss these fun events.

  • Annual Yard Sale, Saturday, June 8, take your donations to WC and Georgia Bain's house on Friday, June 7.  More details will be forthcoming.

  • Next Business Meeting, Sunday, June 9, 4 pm at the Spartanburg Police Club

  • Annual Club Picnic, Sunday, June 9, 5 pm at the Spartanburg Police Club

I have received several donations for the door prizes for the SC Convention, but could still use some donations for the "Movie" theme basket.  Please bring your items to the next dance on April 20 as that will be the last opportunity before the convention.  Thank you to those who have already donated.

Student classes continue on Tuesday nights at 7 pm at Inman United Methodist Church for the Peach Blossoms Club.  If you can attend and help with their students, I know the club would certainly appreciate it.  Peach Blossoms next dance will be Friday, April 12 at 7:30 pm at the church. Hope to see you there.

See you all soon in the square!
